Beginning Lace Knitting 2

Make more holes in your knitting:on purpose!

Participants should already know how to cast on and do the knit stitch.

In this class you will learn how to work in the round, how to read a lace chart, the purl stitch, and basic
lace stitches in a classic Shetland lace pattern. This is another quick, one-skein cowl that you can finish
up in a couple of weekends. A lovely, cozy present for someone, and a great way to use a single skein of
luxury yarn.
You will receive (on the day of the class): a printout of the pattern, and a handmade stitch marker as a
thank you from me!
You will need:
One skein of double knit “DK” yarn (yarn weight 3), or one skein of worsted yarn (yarn weight 4), please
make sure the skein has at least 200 yards.
Circular needles, sizes anywhere from US 7 to US 9, and at least 16” long, but no more than 24” long.

Please have 120 stitches casted on your needles for the start of class.

***Nicole at Weave and Wobble has lovely yarn and needles that will be perfect for this project! Be sure
to check them out! ***

The class sample was knit with a worsted yarn from the store’s sample stash and size 8 needles.
